The melding of the minds...anticipating what is to come!

Image
As my mind starts racing about the thought of this trip, still 7 months out, I start thinking about what we need and what would make the trip better. Since we are so far out, right now, I'm afraid to say I am thinking about what would make the trip better.  The first thoughts were video and cameras. To equip the bike with some kind of video system would be awesome. Not having to worry about catching what is around me or wither or not it is charged is a consideration. Searching through Amazon I found a  VSYSTO M otorcycle Video Driving Recorder . This thing looks really cool and has some great reviews. Putting this up on the wish list. Going with the video need, a helmet cam would be wonderful. Things that catch my interest both on and off the road would be nice to capture. I have a GoPro, and I normally mount this on the handlebar or the engine guard to have a constant power source. So I did some digging and came across a SENA 10C EVO . This bad boy does 4k at 30FPS! HOG Touring Rallies 2021

Image
The HOG Touring Rallies are back on for 2021. And from the looks of it, the just moved the ones scheduled from 2020. So the Riding the Ozarks is back. However this is Zak's Senior Year. His interest in riding and 2021 being his last summer before heading off to college, what better way to spend it than going on a motorcycle trip. With that in mind the Touring Rally I have my eye set on is the Border to Border Posse Ride. They have created an epic 10-day journey that takes you from the Border of Texas at El Paso all the way up the spine of the Rocky Mountains to Roosville, MT and the Canadian Border, and then back to Missoula, MT for our final closing party. This 2,600+ mile route promises a once-in-a-life time journey to some places you may have already visited, but certainly don’t mind coming back to experience again. However, you can also count on new experiences and places you’ve probably always wanted to scratch off your top 10 list. Their portion as mentioned above is about 2...

Rally That Wasn't

Image
So of course with COVID the Bikes, Blues, & BBQ was officially canceled, however there were plenty of things going on and bikes out at Pig Trail Harley Davidson and Eureka Springs at the  Rally That Wasn't.  Our chapter along with thousands of others weren't going to let COVID keep us from getting away and enjoying the Ozarks! Bike packed up and ready to go, after a technical difficulty... The CAC HOGS started off at Rock City Harley on Friday 25th of September headed towards Eureka Springs, AR. The ride captain went up I-40 to Pig Trail 23 at Ozark. The interstate wouldn't have been my first choice, but with a big group, it was definitely easier. The Workman's Travel Center for a stretch, gas, and food. Our next stop was one that had my interests peaked. H.O.G. Ride 365 has a 50 RIDES, ONE NATION. I different ride for each state. 50 Rides, One Nation 50 Rides, One Nation presents 50 “rides of a lifetime,” and there’s no time limit to complete them! From mountai...

Random Acts of Kindness?

Today, while out eating with my family, I had the waitress come over to our table and place $40 in front of me, stating the person that gave this wished to remain anonymous. The thoughts going through my head started rushing through. Who gave this? Do I know them? What is it for? Why was it given to me? Did we look like we needed it? Just thought after thought rushing through. This happened moments after we ordered. I took a quick look around and recognized no one. As our family continued talking, the thoughts continued. I still had no answer. After our meal had come to an end we headed out to pick something up. And while the wife was getting it, I sat in the car. A good hour after the event had taken place I was still pondering why, I pulled out my phone and started searching the internet. At that moment a thought came, was this just a random act of selecting a person and giving money, an act of kindness?  This day and age there are very few times I have seen someone randomly do s...

What did you do with your "extra day"?

Image
Leap 2020 provided me with an extra day this year, and it could not have been more perfect. With January providing almost double (193%) our normal rainfall and February bringing in 261%. The unseasonably warm weather was just plain soggy. But the 29th brought a dry and 66°! So what better to do for the day then to get some miles? I had a number of miles in mind that I needed, to achieve the H-D New Horizons Challenge for February. I had to have 350 miles for the month along with 8 dealer check-ins. I had already reached the check-in challenge but was 138 miles short of reaching the mileage goal. At 9:17 I headed out. My plan was to head out towards Pinnacle, towards Little Italy, and then over to Toad Suck Harley. Finishing the ride with another check-in at Rock City, turning in my mileage for the Frosty Bottoms Challenge. I met the family at Sonic to let Karlee play in the playground and saved my ride. I was about 40 miles short for the challenge and home was about 10 miles awa...

February Prep

Image
As April showers continue in February I have started prepping the new bike for a road trip. The weather had been unpredictable with hot, cold, and rain but I have been trying to make the best of it. I joined Rock City Harley's Frosty Bottom challenge, which measured your miles for December, January, & February, so I have been going out in the cold! When I rode in CO, I had my '14 Road King with the saddlebag guards, that came in handy and a luggage rack. So with the Christmas Harley gift cards, I ordered the saddlebag guards. Upon getting there I got some bad advice, that saved $100. I quickly got the LED brake lights I had been eyeing. The LED lights were a quick and easy install, that were very disappointing. In-store they looked much brighter than the factory bulb. And ever since I got this bike, Kristen's biggest compliant when following me, were the brake lights were not very noticeable. Original LED / Original LED / Original Brake The pic...
