4 Peaks 1 Day
The Central Arkansas Chapter Harley Owners Group (CAC HOG) had a fun ride this past weekend, June 24th that I got the opportunity to participate in. It was 4 mountain peaks of Arkansas in one day: Queen Wilhelmina, Mount Magazine, Mount Nebo, & Petit Jean. Round trip from home to the meetup and back home was 399 miles and with the stops and lunch was about 11 hours 15 minutes.
Leaving Rock City Harley we went down I-30 to US-70 towards Hot Springs. We then cut over to US-270. And as you can see, headed out of Little Rock, we were quickly greeted with some of Arkansas's wonderful weather. Had to make an unscheduled quick stop to put on some rain gear! Luckily I thought ahead and grabbed some before walking out.
Continuing on US-270, there was a break in the rain and made our next scheduled stop to stretch the legs, drink some water, and have a snack. We then pushed on to AR-88 to Mena, to gas up and stretch again.

At this point we had pushed through the rain and were on the back side. One thing I did not account for was how cool it was going to be after the rain. We continued on AR-88 to Queen Wilhelmina Lodge. There were times when you couldn't see three bikes in front of you as we were driving through the fog. It made the view from the top less than desirable, photos will be at the end. After a quick couple of pics and stretch, back on the road. Cutting through AR-272 we got back on US-270, then over to US-71 then AR-23 towards Booneville. We made a quick stop here to stretch rather than push through to Mt Magazine.
The trip quickly warmed back up after leaving to peak and traveling on, making our next views much better! At Booneville we took AR-10 to AR-309. Taking in the view from here and snapping a couple of pics it was lunch time. We jumped back on and continued on AR-309 to Cove Creek Supply Co. They had some great burgers and a good appreciation for Harley Davidson!
After eating there was no time for napping, we had two more peaks to visit before calling it a day! We continued on AR-309 N to AR-22 totowards Mount Nebo. The stretch up to the top, AR-155, is 2 miles of 180° turns going straight up.
A few more stretches, photos, and drinks and to Petit Jean! AR-22 to AR-7 to AR-154 and we were at our final stop as a group. Another group photo and for the first timers, a CACHOG Patch for the ride.
