Deer vs Bike

Well this morning was a cloudy start to a day, but 60 degrees with a high of 70 and clearing up. With the way the weather has been ill take any day to jump on the bike and get a ride in even if it is just to go to work. I started off with all the gear and as the morning turned out in glad I did. After about six miles down Col Gleen road I saw something out of the right corner of my eye. Looked like a dog running out of the fields next to me. It had ears sweep back, head pointed in a sleek aerodynamic style, as if he was racing me. Little did I know and milliseconds later, this was a deer that was not interested in racing just crossing the road. In comparison to the vehicles in front and the similar ones trailing I was his chance to make it across. My R1200C was was nothing in the lineup of SUVs and cars. After the realization that this was a deer it hit me, quite literally. The quick slide down the road and a roll I'm trying to access what just had happened. As luck would have it there was no on coming traffic and realizing that is where I was I quickly rolled over to the side. The cars behind me were following at a safe distance and/or say it coming and were able to stop promptly. The bike laid about another 50 foot up hill the shiny polished chrome and paint were little friction in comparrison to my leather chaps and mesh armored jacket. The first passerby was a caring sole that worked for Children's Hospital and was worried, she was asking questions but I wasn't quite hearing her. Still not real sure what is up or down, I did not feel anything I would say was life threatening. Still wondering what she was trying to say I realized I had ear plugs to block out wind noise. After removing one I could understand what she was saying, wanted to know how o was. After assuring her I was alive and did not need assistance she continued on her way. At this point I am up and mobile collecting bits and pieces of windshield. Another gentleman asked if I wanted assistance in moving the bike out of the road to which I gladly accepted. With the assistance of a fellow rider the bike was lifted revealing an oil spill. With the bike out of the road, pieces picked up, and police called. I'm starting to feel more pain, for just falling off a motorcycle at 40 it isn't as bad as I thought, but as the morning is going on the pain is increasing. Mostly in the hip area that took the brunt of the fall.

A quick walk around the bike, the windshield arms are all bent and instrument panel broken.

Gas tank scratched up

Head scratched and unaligned.

Saddlebag chewed up

Other head scratched

Pieces of the shattered windshield.

Back to scratched headlight & instrument panel

Broken mirrors

All and all its 9:02 and been an eventful morning!
