Riding season coming to an end...

As the temperatures start to drop our riding season is coming to an end. So with each passing weekday, I find myself watching the weather forecast for the upcoming weekend. Sunday was supposed to be sunny and 60°. I looked through Facebook looking for anyone with planned rides and to my disappointment found none. I started mentally planning for a ride.

Friday night rolled around and I got in the shower and just before lathering up my water stopped. Quickly playing with the knobs returned the same dry result. Our well was out. I went to sleep mentally preparing myself for a lengthy day of replacing the well.

I woke, dressed to get dirty and stay warm and went to check on it. Outside I got the well house uncovered and tapping the pressure switch started the well. We went inside and turned on the bath and waited. The well ran and ran. Kristen went in and jumped in the shower, no issue. I got changed, we started a load of laundry and headed out for lunch.

After our lunch, we returned home to find the washer hadn't filled up completely. I went back out to and couldn't get the well to start back up. We started a list as we pulled the well up and out.

The previous times we had pulled the well the coupler wouldn't disconnect and we ended up cutting PVC to get the well out, and then replacing PVC parts. However, we were running out of PVC parts to attach to. After countless tries of trying to disconnect the coupler, I just cut the pipe going to the coupler and added it to the list. I'm sure to a passerby we looked quite comical going through the numerous fittings, adapters, and couplers. We started at one end and found the necessary part and started down the contraption I was piecing together. After the construction was complete we were off to the other items on the list. After heading out we stopped for a quick visit and dinner at my parents' house. It was completely dark so no need to rush now, and the temp was a brisk 37°.

After dinner and returning home I had more assistance, a chance to have some father-son time. We finished up around 11:00 PM. And after a day like that, I was ready for the day to end and ready for a relaxing shower!

Throughout one of my many breaks in the thrills of being a homeowner, I noticed that a fellow rider had made some plans for the sunny Sunday and was looking for some company and after the Saturday I had I was ready for it!

We left the Ferndale area and headed to Hot Springs for lunch at The Ohio Club, Arkansas' oldest Bar. A quick look at their website will show you some history, the following is from their site.

For over 100 years the Ohio Club has been the place to be. It all started in 1905 as a Bar and Casino. The Ohio Club has been a stop off place for many a celebrity. Al Capone, Bugsy Segel, Bugs Moran, Lucky Luciano, just to name a few of the gangsters and it was also visited by many Major League Ball players since they had springs training in Hot Springs in the early 1900's. Babe Ruth was the most famous to visit. Because of all the gambling that went on in Hot Springs, many headliner talents were brought to Hot Springs. In 1915 Al Jolson performed at the Ohio Club, Mid 30's saw Mae West perform and an entire host of Blues and Jazz performers played though the 60's. Live entertainment is still the mainstay at the Ohio Club with music 7 nights a week.

Ready for Live Music!
After a good lunch and the ride back, it was time for some yard work. The leaves were taking over.

Just after one week we had quite the collection!

Which made for some good smoke!
