Border to Border Posse Ride '21 Day 8 - 9

Leaving Loveland, CO we headed north and northwest into Wyoming to Cody. Today was mostly driving we got to see some transitions in terrain. For lunch, we found a Taco John's. Assuming this is Bell's little brother (Taco Bell)? The food was pretty good with the exception of the side. To have 'Mexican' food, using that loosely, why on Earth would you have a side of hashbrowns? These were little ones similar to Burger King's breakfast ones.

Heading northwest from Cody we start heading towards Bozeman, MT, but a couple of detours. Beartooth Pass is the HOG point of interest for the WY state coin. Had Zak and I been riding this would have been our fourth coin for the trip. However just didn't feel right, so we will have to make this trip again on the bikes to get these challenges and memorabilia. This pass did not disappoint!

On our way back down from Beartooth Pass, Zak spotted a bag. We pulled a quick turn around to see. Sure enough, there was a bag that mounts to the luggage rack of a bike. We popped it open and saw a Border to Border patch and knew it was one of ours. Now the hard part, where can we put this to get it back to its rightful owner. We popped the trunk thinking we could just leave the roof up and that was a quick nope. Zak said I can just hold it in my lap. Kind of limited his ability to move around and snap pics, but worth it in the long run. At every stop we made and ran into other group members we made sure to tell them we found one, let everyone know. It was about 6 hours before we had a signal to text the group leader.

Now off to Yellowstone. I have seen pics of Yellowstone, Bison, geysers...but pictures just can't capture the beauty of this park.

At the end of the day, we got the bag to the group, and no one claimed it. Before we left it at the dealer we opened it up and found a name. Bill knew him and sent him a text. The booklet we got on day one had a place to fill out contact info, this one was blank.

Skipping forward 3 days we ran into the owner of the bag. He realized the bag was missing midway up Beartooth and turned around to retrace the 1.5 hr trip to this point. He had reservations at our next stop, but his wallet, ID, money, & phone were all in that bag. He returned to his hotel and they were nice enough to extend his stay on the CC he had paid with for the previous night. He managed to get in contact with his wife and was overnighted a debit card. After about a day and a half of panic and searching, he reached out via email to Bill about his issues. Bill informed him that had he checked his texts it was waiting for him at the dealer.

He expressed his thanks and offered payment to which Zak declined. We were happy to help and glad he got it.

We each picked up another 2 chips Zak 24 and Neil 22.

A couple of the springs at Yellowstone
