BLC Day 3
Day three is upon us, and the report time is 0530...yes the same alarm at 0300. I'm thinking there might just be an issue with not knowing how to turn it off. We are now 50 minutes out and the lights are still off and movement is at a minimum. Seems to me like a drastic change, but willing to roll with it.
Our task this morning is PRT. I'm looking forward to seeing it, doing it, and trying to remember it all for the test.
PRT consists of 10 exercises. After this I believe is the 4 Core exercises, followed by Conditioning Drill 1 & 2 each consisting 4 exercises. Having now seen all this once, I can definitely say I'm nowhere near ready!
Having a train the trainer class is a great concept to help reiterate what was learned, however for this to be successful the trainer needs to know what they are training. Seeing something 4 and 5 different ways is not benefiting anyone.
While waiting in line for chow, everyone came to the same conclusion that the individual with the 0300 alarm needs to turn it off.
The next topic was critical thinking. They want Soldiers thinking about stuff before carrying out the order. My training was you don't think we think for you. If you didn't jump on that command you were in trouble. If the order is unlawful you don't carry out that order or you would be liable.
Today I got a reminder I haven't had in a while, why I don't like to speak up in a classroom environment. I spoke my mind on the topic at hand, which I still stand by my comment, but the instructor said wrong. The comment was on critical thinking and the beginning phase, I said during this phase there aren't wrong answers. Maybe this is closer to brainstorming, but this has been done to me time and time again. It is what keeps me from wanting to speak up in a discussion. It wasn't a big deal and I wouldn't even call it embarrassing. One of those things.
So we spent most of the morning playing critical thinking games. Whisper something in one ear and let it travel through the group and see what the message is at the end. Kind of frustrating knowing I have tests coming up for stuff I don't know and we are wasting time on this stuff that isn't tested. But after lunch we did get sent out to practice, so that was very helpful.
I'm not alone in thinking this but I feel that this PRT test should have been pushed back a week.
