Thanksgiving

Really looking forward to the family time!  Tents are up, computers in place and network is...almost ready but not really.  I have to send a special thanks to the guys that volunteered to stay and allow the rest of us to come home for Thanksgiving. I person all think we owe them something! Just a couple of days home and the rough BS of setting up the TOC and I really don't want to go back, but all good things must come to an end. Until then I'm enjoying it!!

Day Two/Three of Hood

Today's activity involve putting up smaller tents. With high tension between everyone with an opinion for how to put these tents up it made for a difficult task. Our group of about 5 people branched off and started with our tent while the remaining 15 started on another.  After our tent was standing we look over at the other team and it also is standing however there are parts missing and there is a descution of how it needed to turn. Laughing a little to ourselves we drive on and move to the next part of the set up and again after finalizing this portion we check on the others. They have brought their tent down and put on the missing pieces and have it back up but are still discussing the position.  We finalize our tent and are watching and get asked to quit sitting around and come help. A comment from us that they had more than enough people was not accepted with kind looks. One of our teammates has gone over, looked at the status and gave an opinion of the next course of ac...

The wonders of group interaction

TThe past four days have been a prime example of military interactions.  It all started with a trip to FT Hood. The trip down here wasn't as bad as expected. They next day however was textbook idiocracy. It all started with the wrong people giving direction on how to put the tent up. After a couple of hours and getting nowhere fast the frustration of the dictators was reaching a high. At this point was a prime time for a mutiny. We were successful at this point and sent the A Team off to lunch, and after about 30 minutes the tent was up. About another 15 minutes and someone from the A Team was back from lunch. I asked if they wanted to do something they could stretch the floor out to be put in place and/or put up the remaining equipment that was laid out to dry.  After our driver successfully travelled across the entire installation in search for food we found one. At this point 15 minutes have past. We quickly evacuated the vans and headed in to grab a bite to eat. We j...

Weather

Looks like the weather has decided it's winter, riding may be over this year.

Bike, Blues & BBQ 2014

Image
This year was great, I saw a great deal of diverse bikes! Couple of Beemers of course! These photos were around Baum Stadium.  Even saw an old car or two. The V8 Choppers were definitely worth stopping in and seeing! Kristen was headed towards something yellow.  Kirsten's favorite was the Polaris Slingshot, sporting the 2 in front trike with bucket seats. I was told that the 2 models would be $20k & $23k.  She was sold!!! Great news for me! I even found a vest, playing with some potential placement on the patches I acquired too. I have a lot of fun walking through the vendor areas and seeing all the bikes. I think this is a must for anyone able to make the trip even if only for a couple of days.

Start of a new week

So with the trip for work last week being a complete waste I'm still here this week. Today I left with everything in its original working order. I know I have issues working with others and I think I try, sometimes... With the difficulty of working with others comes another issue not trusting anything anyone does because it can't be right.  So finishing up last week we were told that if we couldn't just get it running to reload and start from scratch...I was ready for this Wednesday. So three days of wanting to move forward I just had to sit there a doodle because XP isn't compatible with VMware 5.5. So starting out this week I received a Win 7 and quickly started troubleshooting not knowing if we were going to move forward with the reload. After digging through the logs I was informed that everything was ready for the new server and I could start the install...however no software could be found. Going back to the logs I stumbled upon a SQL issue. Following the rabbit h...

Bikes, Blues & BBQ

Stumbled across another great blog this morning http://bbbrally.blogspot.com Definitely worth stopping in and reading.

Frustration 2.0

Another wonderful trip for work, working on a network with no computer. Upon leaving work on Friday the plan was just utilizing a thin client system that was previously set up by me. Upon entering the site Tuesday nothing worked. Was given a laptop and told I could work wirelessly. Only issue with this plan is the wireless is dropping connection every 45 seconds to about 1.5 minutes, making web sites difficult. You have about enough time to log into email click the message and read but if you want to change messages you lost connection and have to reconnect. Troubleshot the wired issue most if the morning, turns out network related, plugged into port wrong VLAN. Whatever not big deal I can at least access the network without having to log in every time I want to refresh a page and the Thin Client solution is working.  I get a testing station up for someone to begin testing of the virtualized system they physically built. Just wanting confirmation that it works virtually. We leave f...

Little Italy

What a beautiful day for a ride, partly cloudy and about 85 degrees. We were out for lunch on hwy 10 and went for a quick hour ride. We saw quite a few bikes out on this trip. From hwy 10 go to hwy 300, this stretch is full of twisty curves with some nicely cared for roads. Hwy 300 will end on hwy 113 at Wye Mountain, to finish up on the hour take a left which will bring you back to hwy 10 and another left back to where you started. However if you were interested in a little longer ride take a right and continue on hwy 300 & hwy 113 towards Bigelow. I hope this gives you some ideas for an afternoon ride or a short after lunch break to get away from it all.

Talimena, OK

Glenn found an interesting place... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fouke_Monster A beautiful Talimena  Scenic drive, with an RT appearance! Looks like the local wildlife is out on the beautiful weekend!

Talimena Round-trip

Image
Looking like a great weekend for a road trip! Glenn has one planned for just this occasion. Day 1: Doing a route and a half from new Arkansas Motorcycle Guide (you can request yours here ) then stopping to see Clinton's Birthplace in Hope, AR. Planning on spending the night at renovated 60's motel in Murfreesboro, AR. Day 2: Talimena, OK  round-trip  and return to Sherwood, AR I'm hoping to see some great pictures Glenn!

BMW Rally St. Paul

Image
Glenn has made it onsite at the rally. Makes me wish I was there seeing all the beautiful bikes and meeting people with not only a biking enthusiasm but BMW enthusiasts.  Looks like Glenn has his site up. He has mentioned the great people he has already run into on the trip.  There are quite a few bikes! He has even had a R1200C siting. This is a beautiful 2000 model with only 8,400 miles. Looks like perfection.  BMW even had the demo tent set up for riders to take a drive on a new or different model than you normally would.  This is the beautiful grand prize! Wish I was there with you. Keep the pictures and info coming and I will keep everyone updated!

Frustration

Nothing like traveling for work and getting to do actual work. I came onsite interested to get some hands on with the servers and software they were training me for, however it is just crashing down on me. Went to a school for VMware View, this is a server that manages virtual machines in a thin client  LAN. I'm falling in on someone that has set it up, trying to read notes and get up to speed on what he has been doing and where he is at with the process, very frustrating. I for one am note used to working with a team, especially a team that isn't familiar. In a huge project I could imagine it would be broken into smaller tasks for each individual or have a collaborated task working closely together. I have had neither! I am currently trying to juggle three different server builds and designs, two if which are in the build phase. Working on one by myself I have designed it to the best of my knowledge and I can completely wrap my head around the entire network. This project howe...

Car Fiasco

It has been a little over a month and I still don't have my car. I like to think I'm an easy going person and I try to understand why something could take so long. But the last correspondence I had was Tuesday, with my Adjuster and with the dealer. The adjuster said he would let me know something the minute he knew something. Knowing where the car was I visited the dealer and asked them, told me he would call me the next day. Tomorrow will me Friday and if I have t heard something by midday I'm going to start calling people.  After the fiasco of trying to get a rental yesterday I'm just ready to be done with the whole thing. Tuesday we got a rental reservation. Showed up at the rent a car place, no cars called a couple other places no car. Told me they would call next morning with a car. I took the morning off to play games with my son and the morning turned into afternoon. Got a call and went to pick the car up, 4:45, ridiculous. I was rather happy it wasn't a car ...

Brightened My Day

Image
Yesterday I had such great hopes, I was finally getting my car back after the accident on May 24th. Over 30 days later of expected dates and postponing I was getting it back. I didn't want to rush these guys because I wanted it back in good working condition, boy was it disappointing.  After doing a brief overlook the body looked great, paid the desuctable amd on my way. The desuctable left this sickening feeling due to it wasn't my fault, it was a hit and run and we ended up finding the guy later and turning it over to the cops. Nothing to our knowledge has been done. I was still out a deductable and he is still driving around.  So the trip home I noticed an immediate issue with steering. Turning right was touchy and was like I jerked it, left was stiff and sluggish. Not very happy, but told myself it had been a month since driving it. Then I realized the car I have been driving was my wife's, identical... blood pressure went up a little. Getting out of the area speeds are...

Troopers

Have a question, when being pulled over is it to much to ask for the trooper to remain behind you on a busy interstate? Received a speeding ticket, and yes I was speeding. Came up on a vehicle, at the I-30/I-40 merge north bound, utilizing their full lane off one white line to the other riding their brakes. I was on my motorcycle and accelerated quickly to get away from this potential hazard. After getting around and checking my mirrors here comes the trooper. Promptly pulled over at the 67/167 side and was told I was doing 80 in a 60. Handed all my proper paperwork he then returned to his car and promptly came back explaining the ticket asked if there were any questions, no, returned to his car and the sound of the Hemi raced off. At this point I have license, registration, insurance card, wallet, a ticket(to nowhere fun) and the riding protective gear I removed to hear and retieve the requested paperwork. As 18 wheelers pass they are swerving over the white line, on my side, while tr...

East Coast Bound

Glenn is on the road this week, he has a couple trips planned this year. This particular trip's destination was the East Coast. Due to the weather there have been some modification of the plans and has moved some of the stops to the end of the trip. Day one was to Birmingham with about 4 hours straight in moderate rain. This was definitely and interesting experience! We are looking forward to sharing some great pictures and stories from this trip.

Morning Ride In

Such a beautiful day for a ride, it was really hard to stop and come into work! Days like this I just want to continue on and just see where I would end up...the end result of such a thing would most likely end up without a job.
